Iraqi militants accidentally set off bomb, 21 dead

An instructor teaching his militant recruits how to make car bombs accidentally set off explosives in his demonstration Monday, killing 21 of them in a huge blast that alerted authorities to the existence of the rural training camp in an orchard north of Baghdad. Nearly two dozen people were arrested, including wounded insurgents trying to hobble away from the scene.  The fatal goof by the al-Qaida breakaway group that dominates the Sunni insurgency in Iraq happened on the same day that the speaker of the Iraqi parliament, a prominent Sunni whom the militants consider a traitor, escaped unhurt from a roadside bomb attack on his motorcade in the northern city of Mosul.

Satellite imagery reveals mystery ‘supergun’ in Chinese desert

Satellite imagery has revealed two unusually large artillery pieces, measuring about 80 ft and 110 ft respectively, at a test centre for armour and artillery northwest of Baotou in China.  The two pieces, which are horizontally mounted, are mounted on a concrete pad that appeared between September 2010 and December 2011, when the two pieces were first captured by satellite imagery. Images provided by Astrium confirmed that the objects were still in place in July 2013.  The 2011 imagery clearly depicts a series of what appear to be targets in front of the 110 ft piece, suggesting some kind of penetration testing for high-velocity projectiles.

Atheist ‘mega-churches’ take root across US, world

LOS ANGELES (AP) — It looked like a typical Sunday morning at any mega-church. Several hundred people, including families with small children, packed in for more than an hour of rousing music, an inspirational sermon, a reading and some quiet reflection. The only thing missing was God.  Nearly three dozen gatherings dubbed “atheist mega-churches” by supporters and detractors have sprung up around the U.S. and Australia – with more to come – after finding success in Great Britain earlier this year. The movement fueled by social media and spearheaded by two prominent British comedians is no joke.

Ben Franklin Wasn’t Allowed to Write the Declaration of Independence Because They Thought He’d Sneak In Bad Jokes

Franklin Was the Best Writer … But He Was Also a Prankster

Today I Found Out notes:

Franklin was known for putting more subtle jokes in many of his other papers that only the most astute would spot. He was so famous for this that, according to Ormand Seavey, editor of Oxford’s edition of Ben Franklin’s autobiography, when they were deciding who should write the Declaration of Independence, they partially chose Jefferson over the significantly more qualified and respected Franklin, as some feared Franklin would embed subtle humor and satire in it that wouldn’t be recognized until it was too late to change. Knowing this document would likely be examined closely by the nations of the world at that time, they chose to avoid the issue by having the much less gifted writer, Jefferson, write it instead, with Franklin and three others to help Jefferson draft it.

Why have young people in Japan stopped having sex?

Japanese man and woman lean away from each otherAi Aoyama is a sex and relationship counsellor who works out of her narrow three-storey home on a Tokyo back street. Her first name means “love” in Japanese, and is a keepsake from her earlier days as a professional dominatrix. Back then, about 15 years ago, she was Queen Ai, or Queen Love, and she did “all the usual things” like tying people up and dripping hot wax on their nipples. Her work today, she says, is far more challenging. Aoyama, 52, is trying to cure what Japan‘s media calls sekkusu shinai shokogun, or “celibacy syndrome”.  Japan’s under-40s appear to be losing interest in conventional relationships. Millions aren’t even dating, and increasing numbers can’t be bothered with sex. For their government, “celibacy syndrome” is part of a looming national catastrophe. Japan already has one of the world’s lowest birth rates. Its population of 126 million, which has been shrinking for the past decade, is projected to plunge a further one-third by 2060. Aoyama believes the country is experiencing “a flight from human intimacy” – and it’s partly the government’s fault.

Study: Chicken nugget, artificial mixture of chicken parts

JACKSON, Miss., Oct. 4 (UPI) — Chicken nuggets from two U.S. fast-food chains found up to 50 percent meat and the rest fat, skin, blood vessels, nerves and bone fragments, researchers say.  Dr. Richard deShazo of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson said white chicken meat is one of the best sources of lean protein available and it’s something physicians often encourage their patients to eat.  “I was floored. I had read what other reports have said is in them and I didn’t believe it. I was astonished actually seeing it under the microscope,” deShazo said in a statement.

Is Saddam Hussein’s fortune in a warehouse in Moscow? Mystery over £16.75bn piles of cash left at airport for six years

A cargo of 20billion euros in cash (£16.75billion) has lain unclaimed at a Moscow airport for six years amid allegations it could be the secret fortune of Saddam Hussein.  The stash, now under high security in a cargo depot, is held on 200 wooden pallets each worth 100 million euros, enough to keep the entire NHS going for almost two months.  Russian customs have demanded the real owner of the booty “presents himself” to claim the fortune, but while a number of bogus and unconvincing attempts have been made to obtain it, no-one has satisfied the authorities that they are the rightful recipient.  ‘It is possible that this is the money of Saddam Hussein,’ an anonymous intelligence source told Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper.  The cash mountain, all in 100 euro notes, was flown to Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow from Frankfurt on 7 August 2007 and it has remained frozen there ever since.

Miss World 2013: The Philippines Wins Amid Muslim Protests in Indonesia

Miss world 2013The event was originally scheduled to take place in Bali before moving to Jakarta. However, this plan was derailed by protests staged by hardline Muslims. The entire contest was held in Bali instead, following protesters who decried the pageant as a “whore contest” and “pornography.” Alongside forcing the cancellation of the Jakarta portion of the event, the protests also pressured event organizers to scrap the bikini contest in favor of a more straight-laced “beach fashion” segment that included the donning of Indonesia’s native beach garment, the sarong. The venue where the competition was staged was guarded by heavily armed police and water cannons. Similar protests forced pop icon Lady Gaga to cancel the Indonesian leg of her 2012 tour.

Revealing Pictures From 1972 Rothschild “Illuminati” Ball

Rothchild MansionOn 12/12/72 Marie-Hélène de Rothschild, member of the most powerful elite family in the world, held a Surrealist Ball at Château de Ferrières, one of the family’s gigantic mansions. While these events are usually extremely secretive, photographs of this particular Ball surfaced on the web. In short, it is a mix of an “Eyes Wide Shut”-style masked ball mixed with a Lady Gaga-style pop video. I’m not even kidding. Indeed, behind the fun and games, these pics reveal the underlying ideology and the mind state of the occult elite  – which is apparently also used in the countless MK/Illuminati theme music videos discussed on this site.

Small California city welcomes doomsday bunkers

In the backyard of his remote Southern California home, Bernie Jones is etching an unconventional blueprint: a construction plan to build his underground survival shelter. It won’t be the typical, cramped Cold War-era bunker. It will hold 20 people.  Part of a small but vocal group of survivalists in Menifee, some 80 miles east of Los Angeles, Jones, 46, has pushed for the right to build a bunker on his 1-acre property for nearly a year. He wants to be ready for anything, be it natural disaster or a nuclear attack.  “The world is taking a change,” he says. “I want to be prepared. I want my family to survive.”  Residents of the small city once known for its farming and mining can begin applying for permits to build their subterranean housing this month after the City Council passed a hotly contested ordinance allowing the practice.

EXCLUSIVE: Pictured up close for the first time, Scientology’s ‘alien space cathedral and spaceship landing pad’ built in the New Mexico desert for the ‘return of followers after Armageddon on Earth’

MailOnline can today reveal the first close-up pictures of the Church of Scientology’s ‘alien space cathedral’ built in a remote part of the New Mexico desert.  The mysterious building which leads to an underground vault sits next to two giant symbols carved into the ground – believed to be markers for the religion’s followers to find their way back from the ends of the universe after humanity is destroyed in the future.  While no one knows the definite meaning of the pair of overlapping circles, each with a diamond in them, it is believed to have been trademarked by the Church of Technology, a branch of Scientology.  It is believed that they are a ‘return point’ so members of the church know where they can find the works of founder L. Ron Hubbard when they come back from space after a nuclear catastrophe wipes out the human race.

Uncovering the “Truth” Among the Conspiracy Theorists at the 2013 Bilderberg Fringe Festival

Every year, the Bilderberg Group—a collection of some of the world’s most powerful people—gets together to discuss how to keep on being powerful. Now, considering that the past couple weeks haven’t been great ones for democracy (shouts to Turkey and the NSA!), I don’t blame you if the prospect of powerful government officials holding a closed-door meeting with the financial elite gets your goat a little. Especially since while the big swinging dicks gathered in Watford, England, last weekend, unemployment in the UK continued to rise, cities in Turkey kept on burning, and the war in Syria remained the stuff of nightmares.

CNN anchors pretend they’re having a “satellite interview” even though they’re in the same parking lot.

Yes, those are all the same cars. Apparently they thought we wouldn’t notice because Nancy is on the right side of the screen, when in reality she is to Asleigh Banfield’s left. See The Atlantic Wire’s excellent breakdown of the shots to see exactly what happened. Tricky, CNN, very tricky. We understand, though. When a major crime story like the Cleveland Kidnapping breaks, you have to send in Nancy Grace. However, since Nancy Grace is a poorly-medicated vengeance demon who’s always just a bad morning away from ending up on her own show, you also send in a real anchor with whom she can “correspond.”

Muslims Declare Victory in Fight Over ‘Anti-Islamic’ Legos

Muslims say the company agreed to pull the ‘offending’ product, but the company says the phase-out follows the product’s life cycle plan. Danish toy giant Lego agreed last week to withdraw a ‘Star Wars’ Lego set featuring a mosque-like building inhabited by an obese, hookah-smoking terrorist, following complaints that it was anti-Muslim. The Austrian Turkish Cultural Community (TCA) took exception to Lego’s “Jabba’s Palace” featuring the slug-like arch-criminal from the blockbuster film series Star Wars.  The building toy, which is aimed at children aged from 9 to 14, features Jabba the Hutt, who first appeared in the 1983 film, Return of the Jedi. Jabba lives in a domed, oriental-looking building equipped with rockets and machine guns, smokes a water pipe and keeps Princess Leia in chains for use as a belly dancer.

Deer Getting into a Fist Fight

Bucks Gone Bad

SIOUX FALLS, SD -There’s a big herd of deer hanging around right in the heart of Sioux Falls.  On any given evening you can see forty or more deer near 41st and Minnesota at Tomar Park.  While deer herding up in the winter is nothing unusual, the video attached to this story is.  And you will see what happens when deer get mad.  We tend to picture deer like this: peacefully grazing along the banks of a river, keeping a watchful eye out for people and predators, running away at the first sign of danger.  But did you know that deer have a dark side? When bucks don’t have antlers to fight with, they stand straight up on their hind legs and battle with razor sharp hooves.
